Hello Parents!

Yesterday included a lot of waiting at airports because our first flight was delayed, but after getting off at Melbourne, and catching the connecting flight the rest of the day went to smoothly even though we did get to the Carotel dorms late.

Today my classmates and I visited the Australian Mint. There we learnt about how coins are made and the difference between uncirculated, circulating, proof and other types of coins. When I was there a got to get a special coin from a machine that makes coins. The man that toured us around the building told us about the history of Australia's money system and how it became unique to Australia.

The next place we visited was the Old Parliament and there we watched a video about the history of voting rights in Australia. The thing I learnt there was how to vote and the rules for voting, etc. Also I learnt how votes are counted up and distributed.

After eating in gardens next to the Old Parliament house we travelled with our bus to the current Parliament House. While there we got to see the House of Representatives and The Senate. The architecture of Parliament is very fascinating and well thought out. I also learnt why having a democracy is a good way to govern a country.

Currently we are in the multi-function room at Canberra Carotel having devotions and having fun.

On a side note to parents, the school phone has been misplaced, so if there is any emergency, please contact the Secondary office and they will pass on any further contact information on to you.

  2. Anyone look out for the Magna Carta at Parliament House like I suggested? (That's your old Church History teacher - never missing an opportunity...)
